DayTripping to Philadelphia, PA
DayTripping to Philadelphia, PA
September 22, 2018 Washington Square Area-Philadelphia PA is such a diverse and historically rich city-We will be making many DayTrips to break it up and really explore an area-look for the bug!
As a former Girl Scout Leader I am always looking for FREE activities so when its free admission day to museums (which doesn’t happen often) I am there!
This past Saturday was one of those wonderful days however Dave is not a huge fan so we opted for a walking tour of the area-since it was beautiful weather (which we haven’t had a lot of lately I was ok with that). This is what happens when I insist Dave come with me to a museum. 🙂
As we walked around the area we learned so many interesting facts-Did you know there are thousands of soldiers buried underneath Washington Square?
That the Curtis Publishing building is home of the incredible glass mosaic-The Dream Garden by Maxfield Frederick Parrish?
That Old St. Mary Cemetary was established in 1759 and is the burial location of the Commodore Barry Bridge namesake?

I have been following a cafe on Facebook for about a year now called Frieda for Generations-I was very excited to finally get a chance to visit-We were met by a lovely woman with bright red hair-Tina-our 90 year old hostess proudly told us all about the cafe and everything they do to {re}connect generations-the monthly events list is impressive and the community supper a constant sell out! David-one of the owners – was wonderful to talk to and he explains his vision so beautifully. He said that while the food is the draw to gather people it is the community that keeps them coming! http://friedaforgenerations.com
Everywhere we go and everyone we talk with is so excited and supportive of our vision-we are humbled and grateful with every story shared! We can not wait for the first issue of FIFTY5+ Magazine!
Thank you! Dana & Dave
